OFHC is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable, non-profit organization. Even with insurance, many patients struggle to pay deductibles and premiums. Our sliding fee scale makes it possible for us to ensure no one is ever turned away. But we need support to offer this service. Our major fundraising event each year is the Auction/Dinner/Dance Gala. To view the Dinner/Dance web page click here.
In addition, OFHC conducts an annual Dinner Winner Raffle and the Truck-A-Palooza.
Dinner Winner Raffle
We have held our annual Dinner Winner Raffle every summer since 2010. In the late spring our board members contact local Orcas Island eateries to solicit donations of Gift Certificates to be used at that restaurant. Tickets are sold throughout the summer and the drawing is held in September.
In 2015 we had 27 gift certificates from 25 different eateries on the island.
Certificates ranged in value from $25 to $150.
Each Gift Certificate is assigned to a box. After purchasing your raffle ticket, write your name and phone number on the back. Then place it in the box for the specific gift certificate you would like to win. The chances to win are variable since it is determined solely by the popularity of each gift certificate.
Raffle Tickets are $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. Tickets are sold at the Annual Truck-A-Palooza event and at Island Market on select Saturdays throughout the summer. Tickets can also be purchased at OFHC during office hours .
In 2016 the event raised ~ $2,500 and has raised over $12,500 since its inception.
There is always a winner for each certificate.
Truck-a-Palooza
Truck-A-Palooza is an annual event held at the Orcas Island Airport in June. It is a great way to show your children or grandchildren trucks, cars, construction equipment, emergency vehicles and other assorted, unusual vehicles all at one location!
Live and in person!
Past participants have included: The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Orcas Island Fire Department, Island Excavating, Auto-Tech, Paulsen Custom Homes, Airlift Northwest and many more.
2015 was the fourth year for this event.
The 2015 event was held on Saturday, June 20th.
It is held in conjunction with the Orcas Experimental Aircraft Association’s “Young Eagles Day”.
In addition to the vehicles and airplanes, there are food and beverage sales and a chance for the kids to talk to operators of the various vehicles. A great learning experience and a lot of fun.
Admission is by donation. This event raised $780 in 2015.
